David Mazzucchelli

David Mazzucchelli began his comics career in the early 1980s as an artist for Marvel and DC Comics. He enjoyed an incredibly successful collaboration with writer Frank Miller on BATMAN: YEAR ONE for DC Comics and Daredevil from Marvel Comics. After almost four years of monthly deadlines, he abandoned the super-hero genre to produce comics in a different creative direction, many of which were published in his own anthology, Rubber Blanket. His comics have been published and exhibited around the world, and have earned him several awards, notably an award from the Swann Foundation for Caricature and Cartoon, a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, and a Japan/U.S. friendship Commission Creative Artists Fellowship.
