IGN reviews GREEN LANTERN #47
October 30, 2009
I've had roughly two years now to wait and wonder about the contents of Blackest Night. Amid all the theories of resurrections and White Lanterns, one thing I never expected was to see Hal Jordan and the various Lantern Corps play such a minor role in the mini-series itself. Hal doesn't even appear in Blackest Night #4 this week. So much like Secret Invasion last year, you're missing out on a lot if you're not reading both Lantern books in addition to Blackest Night. Luckily, regardless of which book you have in your hands, you're invariably in for a terrific reading experience.
With the arrival of Indigo-1 last month, the mission of our heroes has become clear. Hal needs to unite the seven Lantern Corps in order to attack the source of the Black Lanterns' power. Of course, when talking about figures like Sinestro and Atrocitus, unification is probably a pipe dream at best. Geoff Johns shines the spotlight on members of every Corps this month. While that occasionally leads to the same fractured feel that has plagued the series all year, those instances are only blips in an otherwise strong issue.
