IGN.com reviews BLACKEST NIGHT: BATMAN #2
September 11, 2009
If Blackest Night: Batman #2 confirms the formulaic structure that many noticed in the debut issues of Blackest Night: Batman, Superman and Titans, then it also may why such a formula might not be much of a problem. With a talented writer like Peter Tomasi at the helm, the core gimmick of "superheroes vs. zombie villains and undead relatives" very well might be all you need for an entertaining miniseries.
Ever want to read a comic in which Commissioner Gordon shoots the head off of a zombie, or Batman and Robin take blowtorches to an army of their undead rogues? This book has you covered. More so than any other Blackest Night-related issue to date, this second installment feels like a literal marriage of the superhero and zombie genres. It's nonstop action, blood, gore and guts from start to finish, with the new Dynamic Duo joining Commissioner and Barbara Gordon in a fight for their lives on the roof of Gotham Police Headquarters.
